We are delighted to invite you to the 69th Panhellenic Conference of the Hellenic Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to be held in Larissa, Imperial Hotel, 23rd-25th November 2018.
As every year, the aim of the HSBMB Conference is to bring together and contribute to the interaction between research teams of Greek scientists working in various fields of life sciences, both in Greece and abroad, to present the work of young Greek researchers and to highlight the recent research advances of nationally and internationally established scientists.
As all Conferences of the HSBMB, the 69th Conference is open to all modern fields of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology including Cellular Organization and Function, Cellular Communication and Signaling, Functional Genomics & Proteomics, Structure and Function of Macromolecules, Molecular & Genetic Basis of Human Disease, Development, Differentiation & Ageing, Systems Biology & Bioinformatics, Stem cells & Tissue Regeneration, Epigenetics & Regulation of Gene Expression, RNA Biology, Biotechnology of Plants & Microorganisms and Chemical Biology.
Renowned scientists from Greece and abroad will participate in this year’s Conference as invited speakers: Sir Peter Ratcliffe (Oxford University), Anne Osbourn (John Innes Centre), David Stuart (Oxford University), Antonis Koromilas (McGill University), Othon Iliopoulos (Harvard Medical School), Nikos Kyrpides (Joint Genome Institute, Berkley), George Spyroulias (University of Patras), Christos Tsatsanis (University of Crete), Christos Zervas (BRFAA), Katerina Katsani (Democritus University of Thrace) and Gregoris Amoutzias (University of Thessaly).
The Conference will also include a Special Session devoted to honoring the memory of Prof. Fotis Kafatos (ex-director of EMBL and ERC) who recently passed away. Speakers of this Session will be Iain Mattaj (EMBL, Heidelberg), Spyros Georgatos (University of Ioannina) and George Christophides (Imperial College London).
Linked to the 69th HSBMB Conference, the Forum of Young Scientists of the HSBMB, a previously very successful event, will be organized for the 6th time by an independent committee of young researchers. The 6th Forum of Young Scientists of the HSBMB will also take place in Larissa, at Hotel Imperial, on November 22th, 2018.
